Sedation
“Laughing gas” or nitrous oxide is an option that your
dentist may offer to help you relax during certain procedures. It is a safe
sedative agent when mixed with oxygen that is inhaled through a small mask that
fits over your nose. It is not used to put you to sleep, but you should feel
calm and comfortable. The effects of the gas wear off soon after the mask is
removed. Ask Dr. Dinh if this is a good option for you.
I.V. Sedation is available for those patient’s whose health permits its use. It is especially beneficial for certain procedures such as extraction of wisdom teeth. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about this type of additional anesthetic.
